Director Shares An Update For The Movie Based On Call of Duty Game

Though we haven’t heard a new update for the movie based on the popular video game Call of Duty, it still seems like the movie is still going forward as the director shared more details about the film.

Sicario 2: Soldado movie director Stefano Sollima will be the one directing the Call of Duty film. In a recent interview, Sollima shared about the progress of the development of the movie. According to him, he said that he is aware of the current situation of the video game movie critics, but still interested to continue the project.

Sollima was asked how he plans to distinct the Call of Duty film from other war movies and other video game films, he said that:

I think it’s more the idea, the concept to tell a story of a soldier. It’s something you haven’t seen a lot. There’ve been a lot of war movies but not soldier movies. I feel that a movie must be completely different as an experience from any video games. So meaning that in order to make a good movie based on a video game, you have to betray the structure. You must ignore the idea that they did a video game. You need to create something that is completely new and a great movie

While Sollima confirms that he’s still into doing the project, there’s still no clue who will be the leading character of the movie. However, there are some rumors that Tom Hardy or Chris Pine may get the role. Other than that, no other information has been shared. Until then, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement from the studio.
