Earlier this year, Nintendo has confirmed that Virtual Console will not be available in Nintendo Switch. For this reason, many fans are worried that they might abandon the service. But stop worrying folks, Nintendo of America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime confirmed that Virtual Console is not coming to an end.
As confirmed by Fils-Aime himself, the console’s online service Nintendo Switch Online will be arriving this September. In addition, the president also confirmed that the service is the successor to the Virtual Console.
According to Reggie Fils-Aime:
The Virtual Console successor is Nintendo Switch Online, right? With the mentality that says we’re going to be offering a slate of games, and it’s a slate that’s going to increase over time. For many of these games, there’s going to be additional online capability provided in those games. That’s the vision we have for how to best bring our legacy content to Nintendo Switch.
What is the Virtual Console?
The Virtual Console is an online service exclusive for Nintendo fans where they can access the all-time classic Nintendo games. These games usually start with the Wii up to the 3DS and Wii U.
With the new service Nintendo Switch Online, fans should expect to see a lot of new games starting this year. During the Nintendo Direct E3 2018, Nintendo has revealed huge game titles that are coming to Nintendo Switch including the Super Mario Party and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Aside from their games, big game developers also started to port their game to Nintendo Switch, and one of them is the switch version of Fortnite who surpassed 2 million downloads on its first day release on Switch.
